The Lord of Eroded Primal Fire is Genshin Impact's newest boss and will be a crucial one in the near future for leveling characters. The 5.3 update was the first of Genshin Impact's 2025 plans, and a conclusion to the initial story of Natlan. A region that has been an unfortunate roller coaster for many reasons. The gameplay, region, and story were relatively good, but the characters have been a mixed bag, and paired with a lot of controversy about design at the beginning.

5.3 also added two of the strongest characters released in a while. These are the Pyro Archon Mavuika, and Cryo Shielder/Debuffer Citlali. Compared to other Natlan characters, Mavuika and Citlali are must-pulls for accounts that can afford it. In the former case, Archons are always strong characters with flexibility, and while Citlali is more niche, her debuff strength warrants her usage.

The entrance to the Lord of Eroded Primal Fire fight can be found on the edge of the map West of the stadium and to the south of the Night Wind city. This will bring players to the tribute monument from the end of the story, and interacting with the monument tablet will enter the menu to select a difficulty. This is a fitting spot for the fight given its lore implications, while also being comfortably situated between numerous helpful locations for players.

Dodge And Stun With Natlan Characters

The Lord of Eroded Primal Fire fight isn't necessarily hard, but it can be unforgiving. The fight is broken into three main phases at certain health thresholds and all revolve around Void Wards. These Void Wards will be familiar if you've played through the story and are best depleted with Nightsoul abilities or Elemental damage. This makes any Natlan character a prime choice for the fight, and without them, the best options are consistent Elemental damage dealers.

Phase 1 has two options. The first is avoiding all the boss attacks until he eventually cuts off part of the arena and moves to Phase 2. In this phase, his attacks will be mainly large area-of-effect sword attacks that occasionally leave lingering damage pools around. There is also a four-orb attack that he will launch if you stay distant for too long.

The better option for Phase 1 is avoiding the primary attack and then going into a mini-DPS phase. After dealing some damage, the boss will cloud your vision and summon three Void Ward flowers. Explore the arena and destroy these flowers to stun the boss and start a long DPS phase. If all flowers are not destroyed, the boss will not be stunned, but will still move to Phase 2.

In Phase 2, the Primal will have long-range attacks and will move around frequently. The ones to avoid the most are a double sword plunge and a triple slash. Both will leave a bit of a lingering damage field, but if the boss can be forced to reach for you at a distance, it will open a spot to harm him from safety. At some point in this phase, the boss will summon three pillars of Void Ward. These have the most resistance of the shields, but can still be dispatched to stun him for another DPS phase.

After two stuns, the boss will enter Phase 3. In this phase, the Primal will shield himself with Void Ward while charging up his attacks. This shield isn't as hard to break as the pillars, but will increase the damage he does if the player cannot break them in time. At this point, the boss should be weak enough that this stun phase will be the end of him.

Some other general tips for the Lord of Eroded Primal Fire revolve around dodging his attacks. Many of his attacks will penetrate shields or chunk health bars. In this regard, having spare ultimate for immunity frames or team-wide healers are best. For the latter, options like Bennet or Xilonen are best, as both have powerful heals along with buffs. Xilonen and her best builds are especially a boon for dealing with Void Ward.

Team comps can be flexible for this fight, but generally revolve around high burst/high elemental damage teams. The best option is a Mavuika team with Xilonen, Bennet, and either Furina for Vaporize or Citlali for Melt. Mualani, Chasca and Xinich can also be strong options if built correctly. Without Natlan characters, Navia or Arlecchino teams have the highest chance of success due to their burst windows.

How To Get All Lord of Eroded Primal Fire Achievements

One Simple Task

Currently, there is only one achievement for this fight. That is Die, Or Go Parry II, which requires the player to beat the boss while the arena is at its smallest. This is a simple achievement as it requires players to go through all three stages instead of taking the boss down in the first phase. For the best results, give the boss all the time he wants to attack/destroy the arena before stunning him. Also, make sure not to do a full rotation during any DPS phase.

Overall, the Lord of Eroded Primal Fire boss fight is one of the more creative and visually stunning fights the gacha game offers. It may be one of the easier fights in the game given the number of stun periods and how easy they are to trigger. The only downside to this fight is that it gets harder to trigger these without Natlan characters. However, for most, doing the Lord of Eroded Primal Fire boss fight means they have Natlan characters to upgrade in Genshin Impact, and thus, use in the fight.
